Synergy directs time and effort into pioneering new approaches in our commercial projects, however we also have a desire and passion to solve water resources complexities  all over the world.

We assist with in kind contributions for project work, advice and presentations both within Australia and internationally.  Below is a selection of where we provide our skills for the betterment of the world we live in.

Stormwater Queensland

Synergy are actively engaged within the stormwater industry through our director Adam Berry who is President of Stormwater Queensland.

SQ is an organisation that promotes, encourages and leads best practice stormwater management via advocacy and events for water quality, flooding and integrated water concepts.

Adam is not only an active committee member, focusing and promoting Stormwater Queensland’s advocacy but is also a regular facilitator and presenter at a variety of conferences, events, training and continuing professional development forums.

International Water Centre

Our staff have had and continue to maintain a connection with the International Water Centre through Brian McIntosh, Dana Kelly and John Kirkwood.

We have used this relationship previously to provide industry based education, site tours and services to organisations and students within Australia and internationally.

Murray Darling Basin Authority

Working with a  variety of groups including professionals, and land care groups (Condamine Alliance and Toowoomba Land Care) to improve the health of the Murray Darling River Basin particularly within the upper catchments of the Darling Downs.

Services have included presentations on rural management, water sensitive urban design and advice on floodplain re-engagement techniques, re vegetation and aquifer/baseflow recharge.

A recent presentation can be found here

Mun River Basin Catchment

Working with representatives from Ubon Ratchathani Local Government and the University of Ubon Ratchathani and Chulalongkorn.

Currently proposals by the government centred on flood mitigation using hard infrastructure such as levees and dams to combat significant flooding within the Ubon Ratchathani Province from the Mun River.

We have been providing advice to take a more catchment based approach encouraging infiltration in upper catchments via increased vegetation cover and also providing advice on hydrological and hydraulic modelling requirements

Griffith University

Synergy staff have previously worked with a range of academic staff and students including Dr Ruby Michael from Griffith University on monitoring wetlands through automated and grab samples.

We have also undertaken guest lecturers on topics such as water sensitive urban design and integrated water

University of Queensland

An exciting project regarding research and field based testing in understanding and applying the role of vegetation to increase rainfall infiltration.  This project has untold benefit in the push to increase our understanding and application of natural floodplain management.  Synergy are experts in this field and the only consultant to apply this sort of new research and application in practice.  This area is a particular passion of Synergy Solutions
