Synergy recently spent the day up at Gympie Regional Council with their LDCC sharing knowledge on weather, floodplain management, forecasting and intelligence. As part of the training provided by Synergy, an expert meteorologist also chimed in on weather and climate. This combination is an excellent package that covers all bases and significantly increases knowledge in emergency management and flood professionals.
The course also highlights possible areas of improvement and potential solutions for flood intelligence and better functioning teams. Flood Forecasting and Flood Intelligence is the pinnacle application of a flood engineer’s duty and skills. But that doesn’t come easy or naturally during a major flood event.
Synergy have now created industry first training in this area covering both meteorological and flood forecasting areas providing some of the fundamental skills to operate within this space. The training is provided by Adam Berry who has previous qualifications in Local Disaster Coordination Centres and significant experience in managing teams, systems and procedures during major flood events.
